Month: July
This post continues our Alaska Cruisetour Series, where we’re recapping our 15-day adventure — 7 days at sea with 8 days on land, taking us to 4 National Parks: Glacier Bay National Park, Kenai Fjords National Park, Wrangell-St. Elias National Park, and Denali National Park. Additionally, we made it to 1 National Historical Park: Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park. It wasn’t perfect — we ran into a few hiccups — but overall, this trip delivered the kind of adventure we were hoping for.
Day 1
The park preserves Skagway’s role as the gateway for prospectors during the 1897–98 Klondike Gold Rush, when tens of thousands of hopeful miners passed through on their way to the Yukon goldfields. It’s a great spot to soak in a little history before continuing to explore the rest of town on foot.
We were a bit pressed for time so we quickly walked around then continued on our journey on the Alaska Cruisetour Series – Sea.
